ACTIFY® ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF
SPINFIRE™ READER 2004 V2
Free Reader Delivers Access to
New .3D WorkSpace™
Feature Introduced in SpinFire™ Professional 2004
San Francisco, CA – August 17,
2004 – Actify Inc., the worldwide leader in client-server
design visualization and collaboration solutions for the high
technology, automotive, industrial automation and discrete manufacturing
industries, today announced the availability of SpinFire Reader
2004 V2, a compact, secure tool allowing knowledge workers to
share designs using Actify's proprietary .3D view-only
format for design visualization. Actify Reader 2004 V2 delivers
new functionality, cost savings and efficiencies providing users
full access to the new .3D WorkSpace feature that was introduced
in SpinFire Professional 2004. The .3D WorkSpace allows users
to combine a set of documents, including 2D and 3D CAD, Word,
Excel, PDF, etc. into a single easily manageable file. With the
.3D WorkSpace feature, data-rich documents can be accessed via
the reader providing access to an even greater internal and external
community of users across the manufacturing enterprise.
"The proliferation of the .3D file to communicate design
data around the world has meant increased demand for the SpinFire
Professional 2004 free reader," said Randy Ochs, President
and CEO of Actify. "No other visualization solution comes
close to providing such a rich set of features that can be called ‘true’ digital
design communication."
Ochs added, "Our product offers access to the compact .3D
file format, the unique multi-document capabilities of the .3D
WorkSpace, all in an easily distributable
free viewer. Combined with the ability to easily scale from a single
desktop to the visual backbone of an enterprise PLM system this
makes the SpinFire family of products unmatched."
Launched in February this year, SpinFire Professional 2004 provides
a cost savings when compared to the cost of CAD systems or intensive
manpower conversion activities. The .3D WorkSpace capability, introduced
with SpinFire Professional 2004, has proven itself to greatly increase
the value of the .3D file format beyond the initial value of access
to native CAD data by allowing the creation of a data pack of design
information containing multiple different document formats.
“Any company involved in manufacturing or the manufacturing
supply chain needs to communicate digital designs, and the associated
data, efficiently,” said Lynne Saunders, VP of Marketing
at Actify. “I believe that the increased use of .3D in communicating
data is due to the ability to include 2D drawings and other Microsoft
Office file formats in a single file and email it easily around
the world. The efficiencies provided by the SpinFire family of
products results in lower costs for these companies by shortening
the time-to-market and improving the quality of the final product.”
SpinFire Professional 2004 users are able to create a .3D file
from any native CAD file and then email it out to non- SpinFire
users. Using the SpinFire Reader 2004 V2 reader, knowledge workers
can now open the .3D file and view the 3D model along with all
associated documents included with that 3D model.
SpinFire Reader 2004 V2 is a no-charge, lightweight viewer for
.3D that automatically installs in most browsers and works standalone
on the desktop or directly inside a web page.
