ASA SYSTEMS LEVERAGES ACTIFY SOFTWARE DEVELOPER TOOLKIT TO
DEVELOP MICRO CADAM IMPORTER

ASA Systems First Actify Customer to Leverage Power of Actify Software Developer
Toolkit to Create Importer

San Francisco, CA and Tokyo, Japan – July 28, 2004 – Actify Inc., the worldwide leader in client-server design visualization and collaboration solutions for the high technology, automotive, industrial automation and discrete manufacturing industries, today announced that Japanese developer ASA Systems, well known within the CAD market, has leveraged the power and open architecture of Actify Software Developer Toolkit (SDK) to create an importer that supports MICRO CADAM files. Actify SDK enables seamless integration of Actify CAD viewing technology into PDM, ERM, supply chain management and Web applications. Actify’s SDK is a tool that gives developers and systems integrators everything they need to integrate Actify’s visualization tools into their own applications. With over 300 API calls and comprehensive documentation, the Actify SDK offers power, flexibility and ease of use.

"In Japan, MICRO CADAM is still widely used as a system for creating and viewing CAD files. This has created a problem trying to share files with people who don't have MICRO CADAM since MICRO CADAM is no longer available" said Kei Mori, director, of ASA Systems. "The open architecture of Actify SDK solves this problem by letting our systems integrators and developers easily create the MICRO CADAM importer allowing us to share and view these files."

"In an industry where so many different CAD technologies are available, Actify’s Importer SDK was developed to support diverse CAD viewing needs for companies all over the world," said Ulf Claesson, President and CEO of Silverwire Group. Claesson, a veteran from both IBM Europe and BAAN, has been involved in the global manufacturing industry for over 25 years. "I've experienced the need for manufacturing companies and their partners to transfer manufacturing data back and forth regardless of the original native CAD system that the 3D/2D data was originally created in. The Actify Importer SDK has created an environment where companies, like ASA Systems, can tailor importers to their own specific customer needs regardless of CAD system."

"The open architecture of the Actify SDK allows our customers to use Actify’s SpinFire as a viewer by building importers themselves regardless of the data format," said Michele Ursino, vice-president of Engineering at Actify."ASA Systems' ability to easily create the MICRO CADAM importer using Actify SDK is the perfect example of how Actify customers can maximize the products full potential."

Actify SDK is available worldwide. Pricing starts at $2,500 and includes:

  • Separate ActiveX components for
    — Publishing Actify's neutral .3D format
    — Viewing and querying .3D files
    — Interacting with the powerful Actify Server
  • Robust documentation and sample applications
    — User guides for each component
    — Sample integrations with Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Excel and viewers in C++, C#, VB and HTML
  • Professional support and networking
    — Direct access to Actify developers and the Actify Network of Developers
    — Invitations to Actify Developer Workshops
