ACTIFY® UNVEILS THE MOST ADVANCED DIGITAL DESIGN
COMMUNICATION TOOLS AVAILABLE TO MANUFACTURERS AND
THEIR SUPPLY CHAINS

Actify SpinFire™ Professional 2004 And Actify® Server 2004
Make CAD Data More Easily Accessible to Knowledge Workers

National Design Engineering Show — Chicago, IL — February 23, 2004— Actify Inc., the worldwide leader in client-server design visualization and collaboration solutions for the high technology, automotive, industrial automation and discrete manufacturing industries, today unveiled SpinFire Professional 2004 and Actify Server 2004, the most advanced digital design communication tools available to manufacturers and their supply chain partners. SpinFire Professional 2004 and Actify Server 2004 are designed to make CAD data more easily accessible for non-technical users.

SpinFire Professional 2004 provides powerful 3D and 2D CAD visualization capabilities, without requiring a CAD system, in a secure and user-friendly format. SpinFire Professional 2004 enables access, communication and distribution of multiple CAD formats throughout the enterprise and supply chain, allowing companies to realize cost savings and productivity gains in product design, procurement, quoting and estimation, manufacturing, sales, marketing and support.

"We have been extremely pleased with the capabilities Actify's solutions have provided us," said Tibor Toreki, V.P. of Advanced Technology, Delta Technologies Group. "A surprising and powerful new feature of SpinFire 2004 was the addition of 2D image markups. This feature will significantly enhance our ability to collaborate with our customers, suppliers, and within our own business in ways which, until now, required additional supporting documents to go along with the 3D SpinFire design file."

"Every product development company recognizes the need to have design and manufacturing teams, whether in-house, located in different geographical regions, or outsourced across the supply chain work more effectively together," said Dr. Ken Versprille, research director, CPD Associates, LLC (formerly the PLM group of D.H. Brown Associates, Inc.). "Actify's SpinFire Professional 2004 and the Actify Server 2004 target the essence of that collaboration to help shorten product development schedules and improve product quality. The important new multi-document workspace capability will especially facilitate ease of use in communicating and eliminate potential misunderstandings for all participants in product development."

The Actify Server Solution empowers enterprises to host, control and distribute CAD data, office documents and image files across the entire enterprise. A cost-effective and secure communication and collaboration solution, the Actify Server is easily installed, needing no complex network or firewall configurations.

"Our goal is to re-define the standard in our industry for the most advanced and affordable 2D and 3D design communication tool available," said Randy Ochs, president and CEO of Actify. "With the release of SpinFire Professional 2004 and Actify Server 2004, Actify's over 6,000 worldwide customers, and others, can realize significant cost savings and productivity gains across the manufacturing supply chain through faster, more efficient communication of 2D and 3D design data."

Actify's SpinFire 2004 family of products support files created in any major CAD file format converting them, into .3D, which is a world-renowned, compressed and secure CAD visualization file format. This allows users in the manufacturing industries, and throughout their supply chains, to use a single software solution that enable them to view, measure, mark-up and share all major 2D and 3D data formats without needing to purchase and maintain seats of a native CAD system. This streamlines the communication process and allows for paperless distribution of complex design data, ultimately increasing productivity and cutting costs.

SpinFire Professional 2004
New Features

  • .3D WorkSpace. Multiple different file formats can be opened in a single viewable 2D and 3D data file, allowing users to easily group together all files associated with a project. This makes distribution of multiple documents, associated with a specific project, more efficient, for instance MS Office documents, PDFs, GIF and TIFF files.
  • Ability to take a 2D snapshot of a 3D model gives users the ability to take a 2D snapshot, or picture, of a 3D model and add/save it to a .3D file. This feature enhances communication by giving users the ability to freeze a view in order to highlight or comment on a specific issue.
  • Redlining tools for 2D markup offers intuitive, easy to use redlining and annotation features, giving the user the ability to link comments, approvals and notes to specific features in a 2D format.
  • New measurement enhancements. This adds the ability to access accurate part data without the original CAD file, the ability to read thickness as well as other measurements.
  • User-defined coordinate systems improvements. This adds the flexibility of defining multiple coordinate systems for improved model set-up for the user.

Actify Server 2004
New Features

  • Share entire folders on Actify Server instead of sharing files one at a time. This
increases the ease and speed of sharing files.
  • Share a folder with an entire group increasing ease and speed of sharing files. The user can create a project group and ensure each member of the group receives all files associated with the project.
  • Automatically creates a new .3D file when native CAD files change. Keeps all .3D files up-to-date so that the user knows they are viewing the most current files.
  • Easy-to-use folder architecture giving the user the ability to better organize files that are accessed and shared.
  • Automatic installation of importers when opening a CAD file on the server streamlining the viewing process.
  • Secure environment – with the ability to know when and who accessed shared files

Actify SpinFire Professional 2004 and Actify Server 2004 are available immediately. Pricing for SpinFire Professional 2004 starts at $499. Actify will launch foreign language versions of both products at MICAD, taking place in Paris, France on March 30 and 31, and at Solid Modelling, which takes place in Birmingham, UK on March 31 and April 1.
