2002—Actify, a leading supplier of design access and visualization
solutions, today introduced its new SpinFire 5.0 product family.
SpinFire products provide the first scalable solution enabling
companies to host, share and manage product design information
securely, regardless of the CAD file type, across an entire enterprise
via the corporate network and Internet. SpinFire empowers organizations
to distribute design information simply and effectively while controlling
access to designs by individual users, departments, suppliers and
customers.
The SpinFire 5.0 product family includes SpinFire Enterprise (server); SpinFire
Professional (client); SpinFire CAD Importers (convert and compress native
CAD files into .3D formats); SpinFire Viewer (allows guests and non-CAD users
to view .3D files); and SpinFire SDK (integration toolkit).
SpinFire Enterprise deploys as a cost-effective standalone server-based solution
or integrates with a company's existing PLM, PDM, ERP or EDM environment. The
solution scales easily from a single server configuration to multiple servers
without requiring complex network or firewall configurations.

serves as the desktop client to the SpinFire Enterprise server and allows users
to interactively view, measure and markup CAD designs. SpinFire Professional
features a standard Windows interface that is easy to use and requires no specialized
training or CAD experience. The multilingual SpinFire Professional supports
English, German, French, Japanese, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Thai
and Korean.
The SpinFire solutions enable everyone in product design, procurement, manufacturing,
sales and service to access design information and related documents without
requiring a CAD system. Companies realize cost savings and productivity gains
in such processes as design review, quoting, estimation, procurement, RFQ response,
retooling, sales and marketing, and service and repair.

SpinFire converts large CAD models and drawings into compact .3D file formats

features allow the .3D files, which can compress to just 10% of the original
CAD file's size, to be shared worldwide without IT issues like firewalls and
email size limitations. SpinFire Enterprise's Share Tracking feature helps
to shorten the product review cycle by monitoring and recording exactly when
files have been shared, opened and reviewed.

General Features
- The server stores, organizes and manages any file using a Windows-style
interface.
- Server-side importers convert all major CAD formats to .3D
files.
- Synchronized conversions automatically create a new .3D file
whenever the native file changes.
- Supports load balancing and clustering at three different levels:
SpinFire web services, SQL database and SpinFire publishing.
- Advanced session and file locking system allows users to access
shared data and resources without interfering with one another.
Security Features
- SSL-encrypted connection ensures a private, safe environment
for sharing files.
- Client access to the server is executed only after passing
three security controls: SSL, User Authentication and Client
Authentication.
- Proprietary security certificate system validates legitimate
client programs.
- Server sends an alert to the system administrator or another
e-mail address every time files are shared outside the SpinFire
user account base.
- Accounts disabled after repeated failed logins.
Administration and Deployment Features
- One-hour installation includes all major configurations for
the server, file system, Microsoft Internet Information Server
and mail server.
- Scalable multi-server architecture is customizable to individual
company needs with no restrictions due to company size, locations,
users, etc.
