Intellectual property protection is available for certain kinds of documents, but generally not for product data. Further, these solutions, often part of an organization's chosen "document management" platform, are actually not all that secure. For instance, do they protect against someone who wants to secure against cyber attacks such as stealing data from temporary files? If someone wanted to take pictures of the screen using a digital camera or a camera phone, is there any way to protect against that?

We have done so in a manner which accommodates enterprises of all sizes. For example, any intellectual property protection solution that is any more secure than a simple password access scheme, requires something called a policy server—a server-based solution that manages the access profile (what the various access methods are and how they are applied to this particular document) and authorized user list (how the various access methods apply to which authorized users). While some larger enterprises prefer to host this policy server internally, many would prefer to have a hosted policy server solution to avoid the administrative overhead of maintaining a server-based solution. Similarly, some larger enterprises would prefer to secure files as part of an overall document management solution, while others have a need to protect data only occasionally.
